Watch Chef Pablo Merida and his talented cooks toss pizzas and prepare traditional Italian dishes, made-to-order with passion, many from scratch, in our open kitchen, using fresh, authentic, high-quality ingredients.
Choose our Napolitano, “Pizza como una volta” (“Pizza as it once was”) baked at 800-1000 degrees for 60-90 seconds in our hand-crafted wood fire oven, imported from Naples. Or try our irresistible, thin-crust NY-style pizza. We offer a wide array of tasty toppings for both types.
Explore our expansive menu—our tempting selection of antipasti and salads, wide range of pastas, including homemade pappardelle, ravioli, and gnocchi, as well as fresh fish, meat and poultry, grilled, sautéed or roasted to perfection. Indulge in our supremely sublime desserts.

Call me meticulous, or a little obsessed with detail. I enjoy researching things, exploring the universe of possibilities, and analyzing everything. My MO is to choose a superior product that guarantees a great experience, even if it means investing a little more up front. People are discerning; they recognize and appreciate quality.
I manage by consensus. It takes longer but gets better results and it’s made our staff feel like one big family—like everyone matters, which they do.
This is my neighborhood, where I live, raise my kids, and run my real estate business. When the opportunity to buy Il Piccolo Verde came up I jumped at the chance to create an iconic Italian fine dining experience and a neighborhood favorite–right here in Brentwood Village.
I trust my instincts—with my staff, our fine vendors, and above all, our customers. This is my first restaurant; I want to know what you think and what matters most to you. Tell us how we can serve you better.

Pablo Merida, Chef
My older brother taught me to cook when I was just a little boy, about seven years old. I was the youngest of six boys and grew up in Guatemala. When I was 19, I followed my brother to LA. He was Chef for an Italian restaurant in Malibu and got me my first job here, as a line cook. That was 15 years ago. I also spent 9 years as Sous Chef at Spumoni, in Stevenson’s Ranch, then a year as Sous Chef at the fine dining restaurant, Villeta’s. All were great training grounds for my position as Chef at Il Piccolo Verde.
What a tremendous experience this has been! I love working with Michael, with our manager, Nineth, and it’s been great training my cooks, Salvador and Javier, in whom I have complete trust. I’m inspired by our clientele and proud of the quality of our food.
We welcome, and always do our best to honor, your special requests, so long as time permits.
I enjoy innovating and putting my own twist on traditional Italian favorites, so most days we offer a few specials. Please ask your server. And since I’m also a great soup lover, we always offer a tasty, homemade soup or two.
We want people to feel at home at Il Piccolo Verdi—at any time of day. That’s why we expanded our hours and hardly ever close. When you come in for a bite or a drink, please be sure to stop by the kitchen to say “hello”. We’re just behind the counter and we want to get to know you.

Nineth (pronounced “ni-net’”)
Kristine Morcos, Sommelier
I was a biotech major in my last semester at Cal Poly Pomona, when I took a course in Wine, Beer and Spirits that changed my life. I’d always enjoyed the way you could explore different cultures through food and drink, but I thought I’d pursue a career in medical research. Instead, here I am, a level 2 Sommelier, working as a wine broker.
Il Piccolo Verde was one of my accounts and Michael asked if I’d help him curate Il Piccolo’s beverage selections. We worked long and hard and I’m proud of what we’ve come up with: All our wines are food-friendly and mid-level or higher, chosen to satisfy a diversity of palates. All represent great value and are from established, market-leading importers. Each of our 12 beers is distinctive and represents a different style.
Our goal is to give our customers tastes they will enjoy, that will intrigue them, and that they can relate to and understand. We want our customers to feel comfortable, secure, and willing to experiment and try different things.
